The Nation's First Comprehensive
Child Marriage Research Library
We're centralizing research from around the globe to make information more accessible.
When we first started looking into the child marriage crisis in America, we had an incredibly difficult time finding information. Although research has been conducted on child marriage in both the United States and around the world, this information is spread across different journals and is not always accessible to the public.
Part of our mission at Students Against Child Marriage is to increase awareness of this important issue, its prevalence, causes, and consequences. But child marriage doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s motivated by the patriarchal society we live in and is one of many forms of exploitation young women face around the world. Issues like teen pregnancy, educational attainment, and various other forms of gender-based violence share a common cause with child marriage, and these issues often intersect in complex webs of relationality.
By centralizing research on child marriage and these related subjects, our goal is to provide information for researchers and activists alike, to push for a greater understanding of these complex social issues in society at large, and to create meaningful change for women and girls around the world that is grounded in compassionate and survivor-centered research.

Use our advanced database search to find exactly what you're looking for!
The Comprehensive Child Marriage Research Library is still under construction and is a living and evolving database. Please see our Research Library Roadmap for further insight into our plans to grow the included research over time.
Our database currently consists of several dozen objects that have been carefully chosen because of their intersections with child marriage in America. These range from scholarly articles explicitly exploring child marriage in the United States or the practice in other nations of comparable nature to America, to datasets and scholarship concerning key related subjects. We're in the process of speaking with authors to acquire re-publication permission to break down even greater accessibility barriers. For now, we indicate whether a free, full-text PDF is presently available on another website or the best link to pay for or use institutional access. We have additionally summarized the articles as they relate to our advocacy.
The simple search above will search across several of the major object parameters. Select "Advanced Search" to add up to five additional fields to narrow your results. If you have or know of research that hasn't been included in this library, please email info@studentsagainst.org to be included!
